Melissa Montiel
About me
My name is Melissa Montiel and I am finally a senior at Lee High School! I have attended Godfrey Lee Public Schools since Pre-K. Throughout my thirteen years of attending school in this district, I have found that the staff members, faculty, and students, here are very hard working and kind. There is no lack of motivation within teaching and learning throughout this district which makes school a very comfortable place for me. I am thankful that I have developed dedication as one of my characteristics. I have definitely found my own personality and voice within this loving community!
I have participated in the Rebel Sideline Cheer team for two years of my high school career. It's been an amazing experience! I have met some of my closest friends throughout this sport and it was a huge learning experience. This is where I learned about good sportsmanship, collaboration, and trust.
For all four years of high school I took part in the Lee Rebel High School Marching Band. During the last two years of marching band, I was captain of the color guard. For my junior year I was a co-captain and that has been one of my favorite high school experiences. I was getting to do what I love and building my leadership skills alongside another great leader. For my senior year I was captain on my own. This was definitely a challenge for me. It tested my leadership and learning abilities in a way I didn't think was possible. Throughout this experience I had felt like I lost my passion, but coming closer to the end of the year, I wish I would have spent more time enjoying something I was truly superior in.
